Film Maker Actor Screenplay Writer. Basanta Sahoo has directed nineteen Odia movies, two Bengali movies and a movie in Bhojpuri language between 1991 and 2019. Before holding the baton of a Director he trained himself rigorously in the craft of film direction for about fifteen years as an Assistant/Associate Director under various established directors of that time. Moviegoers fondly remember his films like Ki Heba Sua Poshile, Kala Manika, Topae Sindoora Di Topa Luha and Selfish Dil even now after so many years. He has directed a number of television serials. He has put on many hats with elan. He has been a Screenplay Writer, Body Builder( Mr Cuttack and Mr Odisha in 1978), Member of the Jury for many awards and a social activist. He has received a number of prestigious awards for his cinematic versatility vision and innovation.
